WEDNESDAY IS LIVEWORKPLAY DAY AT CORA'S

On March 28 the 1545 Merivale Road and 1971 St. Joseph Boulevard locations of Cora's Breakfast & Lunch are donating 25% of all proceeds for the day to LiveWorkPlay. Bring a friend or your entire team from the office!

A-Channel will be coming live from Cora's on Tuesday morning to get the word out about this event and also to share news about the LiveWorkPlay auction (see next item). You can help too...just send out an email to your network with the address http://liveworkplay.ca/CORAS which has all the details including a map to each participating location.

10 DAY COUNTDOWN TO RECIPE FOR SUCCESS

That's right, it is now just 10 days until the MBNA Recipe for Success Culinary Adventure & Charity Auction for LiveWorkPlay. It all gets started at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, April 4, at the CHUM Market Media Mall (87 George Street). The date was moved up this year to avoid conflicts with Senators playoff hockey and also to avoid interrupting Easter weekend plans. LiveWorkPlay is pleased to announce that Codi Jeffries (Majic 100) and Kurt Stoodely (A-Channel) are re-united as the celebrity auctioneers for 2007!

Sponsorship is strong this year and with some late contributions still expected, could provide the foundation necessary to achieve this year's goal of $50,000. Meanwhile the donations of items started pouring in at the end of last week, and many more are expected in the next few days. The auction program will be developed starting Wednesday night, and it is expected that by the coming weekend auction fans will get a chance to preview most of the available items online. Keep a close eye on http://liveworkplay.ca/AUCTION for updates!

If there isn't a big crowd on hand to bid on all the items, it won't matter how great the donations are, so please help LiveWorkPlay with a big final week push on ticket sales! At just $20 admission this is one of the best deals in town - everyone gets a valuable loot bag just for walking through the door, but the real treat is the gourmet delicacies provided by Truffle Treasures and DISH Catering. Watch for a preview in Wednesday's column by Gay Cook in the Ottawa Citizen.

Tickets can be purchased with MasterCard or VISA by calling 613-235-9550 x 223.

CTV OTTAWA TO LEARN MORE ABOUT LWP HOUSING EFFORTS

Leanne Cusack from CTV Ottawa will be dropping by LiveWorkPlay on the morning of Monday, March 26, to catch up on the organization's progress with particular attention to new developments in housing. Tune in to CTV Ottawa News at Noon to see the results!

SMILE MINI-BANQUET WILL CELEBRATE ACCOMPLISHMENTS

The second and final SMILE mini-banquet of 2006-2007 takes place Wednesday night. Close to 100% of the 31 eligible participants are expected to attend. The evening offers the opportunity to celebrate individual achievements, and is also a chance to practice public speaking in front of peers as preparation for the public Engines of Success banquet in June. Check out http://lwp.bz/SMILE/MINIBANQUET for photos and video.

The March 28 mini-banquet will also be the location for a shoot by the CBC television program Moving On, which covered the 2004 On Our Own Together (OOOT) housing project at Carleton University. Moving On is planning a follow-up program based on footage that will be taken this week and on a return visit in the summer. For more about OOOT and LiveWorkPlay housing initiatives see http://liveworkplay.ca/HOUSING

SUPPORT FROM RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE CHARITIES

RMHC has announced a contribution of more than $13000 towards upgrades in the LiveWorkPlay Internet Centre (LWPIC). LiveWorkPlay provides internet accounts to all program participants, with access for Journeys offered for the first time in September 2006. This initiative has proven extremely popular, and has also translated into increased use of the LWPIC.

Unfortunately much of the equipment in the centre is now well beyond its life expectancy, and this is showing with equipment failures and the need for frequent repairs. With the RMHC contribution all of the old cathode ray tube (CRT) monitors are being replaced with liquid crystal display (LCD) units, and many of the old computer towers will also be replaced with new units.
