WEDNESDAY IS LIVEWORKPLAY DAY AT CORA'S

On March 28 the 1545 Merivale Road and 1971 St. Joseph Boulevard locations of Cora's Breakfast & Lunch are donating 25% of all proceeds for the day to LiveWorkPlay. Bring a friend or your entire team from the office!

A-Channel will be coming live from Cora's on Tuesday morning to get the word out about this event and also to share news about the LiveWorkPlay auction (see next item). You can help too...just send out an email to your network with the address http://liveworkplay.ca/CORAS which has all the details including a map to each participating location.

10 DAY COUNTDOWN TO RECIPE FOR SUCCESS

That's right, it is now just 10 days until the MBNA Recipe for Success Culinary Adventure & Charity Auction for LiveWorkPlay. It all gets started at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, April 4, at the CHUM Market Media Mall (87 George Street). The date was moved up this year to avoid conflicts with Senators playoff hockey and also to avoid interrupting Easter weekend plans. LiveWorkPlay is pleased to announce that Codi Jeffries (Majic 100) and Kurt Stoodely (A-Channel) are re-united as the celebrity auctioneers for 2007!

Sponsorship is strong this year and with some late contributions still expected, could provide the foundation necessary to achieve this year's goal of $50,000. Meanwhile the donations of items started pouring in at the end of last week, and many more are expected in the next few days. The auction program will be developed starting Wednesday night, and it is expected that by the coming weekend auction fans will get a chance to preview most of the available items online. Keep a close eye on http://liveworkplay.ca/AUCTION for updates!

If there isn't a big crowd on hand to bid on all the items, it won't matter how great the donations are, so please help LiveWorkPlay with a big final week push on ticket sales! At just $20 admission this is one of the best deals in town - everyone gets a valuable loot bag just for walking through the door, but the real treat is the gourmet delicacies provided by Truffle Treasures and DISH Catering. Watch for a preview in Wednesday's column by Gay Cook in the Ottawa Citizen.

Tickets can be purchased with MasterCard or VISA by calling 613-235-9550 x 223.

CTV OTTAWA TO LEARN MORE ABOUT LWP HOUSING EFFORTS

Leanne Cusack from CTV Ottawa will be dropping by LiveWorkPlay on the morning of Monday, March 26, to catch up on the organization's progress with particular attention to new developments in housing. Tune in to CTV Ottawa News at Noon to see the results!

-----------------------------------------------------

SMILE MINI-BANQUET WILL CELEBRATE ACCOMPLISHMENTS

The second and final SMILE mini-banquet of 2006-2007 takes place Wednesday night. Close to 100% of the 31 eligible participants are expected to attend. The evening offers the opportunity to celebrate individual achievements, and is also a chance to practice public speaking in front of peers as preparation for the public Engines of Success banquet in June. Check out http://lwp.bz/SMILE/MINIBANQUET for photos and video.

The March 28 mini-banquet will also be the location for a shoot by the CBC television program Moving On, which covered the 2004 On Our Own Together (OOOT) housing project at Carleton University. Moving On is planning a follow-up program based on footage that will be taken this week and on a return visit in the summer. For more about OOOT and LiveWorkPlay housing initiatives see http://liveworkplay.ca/HOUSING

SUPPORT FROM RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE CHARITIES

RMHC has announced a contribution of more than $13000 towards upgrades in the LiveWorkPlay Internet Centre (LWPIC). LiveWorkPlay provides internet accounts to all program participants, with access for Journeys offered for the first time in September 2006. This initiative has proven extremely popular, and has also translated into increased use of the LWPIC.

Unfortunately much of the equipment in the centre is now well beyond its life expectancy, and this is showing with equipment failures and the need for frequent repairs. With the RMHC contribution all of the old cathode ray tube (CRT) monitors are being replaced with liquid crystal display (LCD) units, and many of the old computer towers will also be replaced with new units.

SMILE RETURNS FROM THE WHITE MOUNTAINS

The first ever LWP trip for both SMILE-TOG* and SMILE-TNG* participants was a resounding success! Twenty participants, four staff, and two volunteers spent three nights at the New Hampshire chapter of the Appalachian Mountain Club for hiking, snowshoeing, lounging, and shopping. Visit http://liveworkplay.ca/MOUNTAIN for the full story including a slide show and video clips.

AIR CANADA SUPPORTS A RECIPE FOR SUCCESS

The MBNA/Bank of America Recipe for Success Culinary Adventure and Charity Auction is just a month away! This year's event is Wednesday, April 4th, hosted by the A-Channel at the CHUM Market Media Mall. The action starts at 6:00 PM.

LiveWorkPlay is always looking for exciting big ticket items for the live auction, and Air Canada has come through with return travel for two to Los Angeles! This will be a package item with accommodations and the value will be well over $3000.

Other big news includes the announcement of Truffle Treasures and Dish Catering as new partners providing gourmet delights for this event. And coming in the next few days expect to see a 30-second promotion for Recipe for Success airing frequently on A-Channel television.

The Recipe for Success website continues to grow as we add responses to Frequently Asked Questions. The list will continue to grow - just send in your questions to auction(at)liveworkplay.ca and we'll answer them! Drop by http://liveworkplay.ca/AUCTION often to get the latest updates. Tickets are now on sale for just $20, and new for this year LWP can accept payment by MasterCard and VISA!

This year LiveWorkPlay is asking supporters to bring someone new to the auction - a work colleague, your real estate agent, a financial advisor - it is all about building the network of auction enthusiasts beyond the dedicated group of family members that have returned year after year to support this event. With a goal of $50,000 we not only need increased sponsors and donors, but also improved attendance. With your help we can do it! Please visit the website FAQ to find out why this year's goal is so important.

COOKING UP A DELICIOUS CORA'S BREAKFAST - OR LUNCH!

One week before the auction please come out to Cora's Breakfast & Lunch at 1545 Merivale Road to enjoy a delicious breakfast or lunch with 25% of all proceeds for the day going to LiveWorkPlay. Bring a friend or your entire team from the office!

Scott Singer from Cora's Breakfast and Lunch has generously offered to dedicate Wednesday, March 28, to LiveWorkPlay, so please spread the word and help us fill every seat at every table from morning until afternoon! If you can't make it on Wednesday, stop by on Tuesday morning and be a part of the A-channel's live coverage. The morning show will be on hand to help create a buzz about the upcoming special day on Wednesday and also to talk about the auction on April 4th.

A HOT TIME AT THE SUNSHINE DANCE

February can be a tough month. After many weeks of a harsh Ottawa winter, spring still seems a long time away. It's an annual tradition at LWP to host a Sunshine Dance Party - a night where everyone from Journeys* and SMILE rock out pretending they are in a tropical climate.

Check out the slide show from this year's dance at http://liveworkplay.ca/SUNSHINE/dance07.wmv and you can also watch the promotional video prepared by the SMILE drama group at http://liveworkplay.ca/SUNSHINE/sunshinedance2007.wmv
